October 1st, 2021

Natixis Partners advised the Group Salins du Midi in the financing of the acquisition of Nouryon Group’s Salt Specialties division

The Nouryon Group's high quality specialty salt business sells specialty salt under 5 recognized brands (Sanal, Broxo, Jozo, KNZ, and Suprasel) to the retail, food, pharmaceutical, water treatment, agricultural and industrial markets. The acquisition includes three locations for the packing and distribution of specialty salt in Hengelo (The Netherlands), Mariager (Denmark), and Gothenburg (Sweden). Nouryon will supply Salins with high-purity vacuum salt from their mining operations near Hengelo and Mariager. This acquisition allows Salins to pursue its strategic and geographical development by becoming a major specialty salt player in Northern Europe and by boosting the development of specialty salts in the Middle East, Far East and American countries. The financing of this acquisition takes the form of a bank financing add-on subscribed by the Group’s historical relationship banks which are Banque CIC Est (Agent), BNP Paribas, Crédit Lyonnais, Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking and Arkéa Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels. With more than 150 years of history, the Salins Group is the leading French salt company and one of the European leaders, notably known for its brand "La Baleine", the leading brand of table salt in France. Commercially active in more than 70 countries, the group provides salt to a wide range of industries. In addition to a solid organic growth which relies on a sustained policy of industrial investments, the Group maintains a dynamic external growth policy which enhance its position as a leader in the European salt market.
