On November 30th, 2017, Groupe Salins refinanced its existing debt resulting from the acquisition of the Group by Hubert François and his family. This debt was subscribed in December 2014 by Tikehau Investment Management, Hayfin Capital, Macquarie Bank Limited London Branch and Arkéa Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels.
The new financing takes the form of a bank debt mainly subscribed by the Group’s historical banking partners: Banque CIC Est (Agent), HSBC France, Crédit Lyonnais, Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking and Arkéa Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels. This banking pool also provides the Group with a revolving facility to finance its operating needs. This lower-cost financing with more flexible conditions will allow the Group to accelerate its growth and maintain a steady pace of investments.
With more than 150 years of history, Groupe Salins is the first French salt producer and one of the European leaders, well-known through its brand “La Baleine”, the leading brand of table salt in France. With sales in more than 70 countries, the Group sells salt to a variety of industries including human and animal food, various agro-industries, water treatment, chemicals and de-icing.
Under Hubert François’ leadership, the company has experienced a steady growth of its activity supported by both its salt activities but also by the development of its exceptional land assets on the Mediterranean coast through tourist activities and of agro-productions.‹ Back to news
